Bernard L. McKay

President and Chief Executive Officer

Prior to joining the Haile Foundation, Bernie spent 28 years as an attorney with Frost Brown Todd LLC where he concentrated his practice in the areas of trusts, estates and charitable giving and previously served as the Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Privately Held Business & Wealth Planning Practice.  Bernie is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, is an alumnus of both Leadership Cincinnati and Leadership Northern Kentucky, named to Best Lawyers in America from 2006 to 2021 and was the Southwest Ohio “Lawyer of the Year” for Trust and Estate law in 2016 by the Best Lawyers in America.  Bernie and his husband, Zack Weber, make their home in the East Row Historic District in Newport.


Christine Bochenek

Vice President and Senior Program Manager

Chris joined he Foundation in 2007 following 28 years with U.S. Bank that included 25 years in Institutional Trust and Custody Services, Employee Benefits and Trust Operations. Most recently, she served in Private Client Services as Vice President and Regional Operations Manager. She lives in Bridgetown with her husband Christopher and their children.


Kirsten MacDougal

Program Manager

Kirsten joined the Haile Foundation in May 2023 with a diverse background in not-for-profit leadership, education, communications, and the arts. Previously, Kirsten was the Executive Director of Adventure Crew (environmental education) for five years after serving as President of Mercy secondary education in Cincinnati for nearly ten. She came to education through the not-for-profit development track having spent much of her career and training in business, marketing, and fundraising. Her earliest years and education were as a professional orchestral musician and actor.  Kirsten lives in Green Township with her husband, Steve. They have two daughters, two dogs, one cat, and one irresistibly adorable two-year-old grandson.

Cal Cullen

Program Manager

Cal joined the Haile Foundation in May 2023 after a 20-year history in non-profit leadership, education, administration, community development and engagement. Prior to joining the Haile Foundation, Cal spent over 8 years leading and growing Wave Pool Arts Center, a collaborative community arts organization that she co-founded in 2014 and led as the Executive Director since inception. Previously she held positions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, California, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and others. As a socially engaged artist herself, she sees her creative work as that of making connections, listening deeply to both neighborhood and artists’ needs, and fostering asset-based community development. She understands all of her labor as an artistic process and uses her creativity equally in the office and her studio, where she draws, makes hand-made artisanal shoes, stows make-shift instruments for her marching band, and plans future collaborative projects with neighbors and friends. Cal lives in Northside with her husband, Skip, their daughter, Alice, and dog, Lazer. She is deeply committed to developing equitable solutions to problems using art as a catalyst.


John Yung

PROGRAM MANAGER

John joined the Haile Foundation in January 2024. John Yung has dedicated his career towards advancing communities in development, planning, and zoning. With past experience in urban planning as head of the Consulting Division at Urban Fast Forward and in regional local government, he works to develop communities focusing on revitalizing and enriching city centers and neighborhoods. Mr. Yung is skilled in land use code analysis, development plan review, and project implementation and has expertise in engaging community members and elected officials.

His work has included comprehensive planning, economic development, zoning codes, public speaking, community engagement, and urban forestry. He is a member of the Cincinnati Historic Conservation Board, has served on the Cincinnati Regional Chamber NextGen Transportation Committee, the Urban Land Institute Cincinnati Mission Advancement Committee, the Over-the-Rhine Foundation Board and was a founding board member of the CNU-Midwest Chapter. He was a manager and contributor to the blog UrbanCincy.com and podcast and contributed over 80 articles to the blog where his work appeared in various publications including NextCity, Streetsblog.com and the Cincinnati Business Courier.

He has coordinated various roundtable discussions related to urban issues in Cincinnati with the University of Cincinnati Niehoff Urban Studio. He was part of the 2015 ICMA Professional Fellows Program and a member of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber C-Change Leadership Program Class 12. When he is not working hard to make cities and towns better places, he plays guitar, takes long walks, and makes craft cocktails for friends.


Scott Getz

Finance Manager

Scott joined the Haile Foundation as Finance Manager in 2022 after retiring from a 25-year career with Fidelity Investments.  At Fidelity, Scott served in a variety of roles, including Financial Analyst, Marketing Analyst, and on the Competitive Intelligence team.  Scott and his husband, Mark Santanello, live in Westwood and are obsessed with their impossibly cute dogs Emmy, Babs, and Blanco.


Jason W. Pompilio

GRANTS AND OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Jason joined the Haile Foundation as Grants and Office Administrator in August 2023. With a background in economics and legislative affairs, Jason has worked across various industries including film, academia, banking, and most extensively in the nonprofit arena. Jason and his family live in Northern Kentucky.
